Author Interview The Sanctity of Sloth

1) How long have you been writing?
A long time.  I wrote curricula for middle grade and high school, then weight management curricula for the YMCA, then a nonfiction book on health and wellness, then all kinds of things for magazines, and finally found my writing love: fiction. My first fiction novel, A Margin of Lust, was published in 2017.
2) Is this book part of a series?
The Sanctity of Sloth is the third book in the Seven Deadly Sins series. Each book is a standalone novel, and the series can be read in any order. The series is linked by characters and place. Each is set in Orange County, California.
3) What did you find most challenging about writing your book?
The Sanctity of Sloth was tricky because the main character doesn’t actually go anywhere for the first quarter of the book, yet I had to keep the tension high to keep readers turning pages. Maybe because that was such a focus, I’ve been told the opening of this story is the most suspenseful yet. One reader said he had to put it down a few times, because he was getting too anxious! A funny kind of compliment.
4) Which aspect of writing do you enjoy the most?
I love having written. In other words, I love getting the finished product in my hand and adding it to my bookshelf. As a mother and wife, I appreciate creating something lasting that isn’t ingested, messed up, or used up.
5) Are you working on another book at the moment?
Always! I’m on the final rounds of edits for The Color of Envy, book four in the series. This one revolves around an interior designer who gets to decorate a home in Laguna Beach that has fascinated her for years. Things don’t go quite as she plans, however. There are dead bodies without heads and hands found on park benches, creepy paintings, and all kind of fun things. I’m having a blast with this one.

Genre: Suspense, Mystery

Series: The Seven Deadly Sins

There’s one thing more dangerous than testifying to a crime—staying silent.
Locked in the ruins of a California Mission, Abby Travers watches helplessly as a girl dies outside her window. As she struggles between her moral obligation to come forward as a witness, and her commitment to a Medieval religious practice that requires her to retreat from the world, the situation spins out of control.
Abby’s hesitation starts a series of catastrophes. She finds herself at the center of a deadly cover up where every minute counts and indecision could be fatal. She questions all her beliefs and everyone she knows becomes suspect. To save herself and those she loves, she must break free from her self-imposed prisons of stone and fear.
The Sanctity of Sloth is a taut, psychological thriller that answers the question: What happens when a good woman does nothing? Fans of Paula Hawkins and A.J. Finn will enjoy this third book in Greta Boris’s Seven Deadly Sins Series.
