How far was the roof from the ground, I can’t remember! What would I break when I fall? A leg? An arm? My neck? Down I go, I close my eyes.
“Baylee Alyzabeth! What in the world are you doing? Haven’t you ever heard of a damn door!”
The arms that were wrapped around me placed me on the ground. I kept my eyes closed not wanting to know how my fall ended just yet.
“CailÍn Tá tú dúsachtach! Oscail do shúile agus inis dom cad é atá tú ag smaoineamh.” ( Girl are you crazy!? Open your eyes and tell me what it is you were thinking?)
“Alright it’s official I’m dead, I fell off the roof and died, I understood that and last I checked I never learned Irish,” I said.
“It’s in your blood you know it inside you because your blood runs so deep in this country the longer you are here the more your gifts will come. Now open your eyes and look at me.”
Standing on my feet, realizing so far nothing is broken, my eyes flutter open. Of course he was here every unexpected thing in my life lately. Just what I needed in my life was someone to be there when I fall. Tears started streaming down my cheeks.
“Are you my real dad?” I asked.
About the Book
Title: The Resistance: Duchess
Author: Kristyn Stone
Genre: YA Fantasy
In this second book of The Resistance series Garritt’s twin Baylee takes center stage. Baylee has a hard time being a leprechaun, but when she is captured, she must figure out if she wants to be a normal teenager, an elf for her people or a ruler of leprechauns and elves.
Damon is in love, and even though what he did was wrong, he did it for all the right reasons. When Baylee disappears in front of his eyes he must go the wrong way to get her back.
I am a mother of two wonderful little leprechauns. I am a twenty-seven year old bookworm. I’m a day dreaming, writing stories, photography taking, little nerd, and PROUD. I have been writing for a few years now and hoping to influence the next generations with imagination and hopefully turn them into fans!
I live in Colorado now, where the views are amazing, there is nothing like this view! I have lived in Florida growing up (which is where the beginning of Garritt’s story starts) I have lived in Alabama but nothing compares to Colorado. I do miss the weather in Florida, I’m not a big fan of the white stuff (snow) in the winter.
