Author Interview The X-Cure

How long have you been writing?

I have been writing for a number of years. My first non-fiction book, Unlocking the Healing Code, was published in 2007. Before that, most of my writing was for my work as a college science instructor. I wrote curriculum, course materials and so on. I also wrote an electronic text in 2008 and self-published a study guide in 2013 before writing my first novel, The X-Cure in 2014-15.

What was the most challenging part about writing THE XCURE?

Probably the editing. I learned a lot about writing fiction as I wrote The X-Cure and made a few mistakes along the way which took a good deal of time to correct before sending it off to publishers. I did a good deal of my own editing and used some editing software as well. It worked because the editor from the publisher said he did not have a lot of corrections. Writing the next book was a much smoother process.

What do you enjoy the most about being an author?

I really enjoy going deep into my mind to live with the characters as I’m writing the story. I get the full spectrum of emotions as well. It is a wonderful process that is much more intense than reading someone else’s work.

Is this book part of a series?

No, The X-Cure is a standalone book as is my next novel, Alan2. The next one after Alan2 titled “The Healers” may end up as a series.

Do you have any works in progress?

My next novel, Alan2, has just been submitted to my publisher (Open Books). This one is a cyber-thriller about an artificial intelligence scientist (with a certain amount of dysfunction in his life) who develops a way to combine the knowledge in the frontal lobes of his brain with a computer operating system. Besides artificial intelligence, the story contains elements of cybercrime, cults, hacking, and an international chase with a very dramatic conclusion. It’s kind of like a combination of the movie “Her” with Terminator’s Skynet and a completely different twist. I’m hoping readers will like the play on today’s concerns about artificial intelligence.
