Author Interview Dust Book Tour

How long have you been writing?

It’s rather cliche, but I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember. My first book was in 2nd grade for a school project and I wrote about a leprechaun who fell off a rainbow.

What was the most challenging part about writing Dust?

Writing about a place I had never been to – Wyoming. Eventually we moved here and that’s when things started speeding up. It’s beautiful country out here and certainly a place that needs to be experienced if a writer is going to attempt to do it justice.

What do you enjoy the most about being an author?

I love doing Meet The Author events and being able to inspire writers who come to them. Most recently, I did a book tour in Sheridan, Wyoming and had the opportunity to encourage two young writers to continue pursuing their craft and not be intimidated about finding a publisher.

Is this book part of a series?

That’s the plan. I’ll be spending much of this summer writing the follow up novel to Dust and then there is a third to cap off the trilogy.

Do you have any works in progress?

Oh tons! I have the follow up to Dust and then the third novel of that trilogy floating around in my head and I have another project that’s completely different that I will eventually get to that is a paranormal comedy.

About the Book

DustbyBeauxCooper-1800HRTitle: Dust

Author: Beaux Cooper

Genre: Women’s Fiction

Some people seek marriage counseling; others find wisdom in horse manure. Austen St. Johns has taken up a shovel.

When her marriage transitions from blushing newlyweds to people who merely co-exist, Austen realizes perhaps she’s responsible for her misery.

Desiring change, she leaves Oregon for the open plains of a Wyoming ranch where she discovers through love of self how she can save her marriage.

Author Bio

mirandalsober.2015.jaymeemcdaniel-5078Beaux Cooper is a writer, explorer, and wife. Much of her writing is pulled directly from life experiences, revelations, and lessons which seem to come in spurts if given enough time to formulate. As a fresh transplant to the bluffs region of Wyoming from her home state of Oregon, Beaux has grown to appreciate just how small she really is compared to the rest of the earth.

Wyoming skies can do that to a person.

Beaux craves adventure, travel, and fish tacos. She hoards knowledge like a magpie after carnival and watches entirely too much British television. Surprisingly, Beaux’s weekends are filled with all things quintessentially Wyoming: national parks, cattle brandings, rodeos, and the Oregon Trail. But only because she seeks them out.

Beaux shares a household with her husband, two dogs, and two cats – in no particular order.

Sinclair Charlcroft is the British Admiralty’s last hope. Napoleon’s Grande Armée is poised to invade Britain, an English spy is missing and a traitor has infiltrated the Admiralty’s intelligence network.

Author Bio

Elizabeth SquireElizabeth Squire’s love of writing romance couldn’t be further from the life she had carved out for herself. Raised in outback and rural Australia, Elizabeth was determined to live a life vibrant with passion, travel, adventure and discovery—other than the one she had already lived through the pages of the innumerable she read and loved. And so, turning her back on a life in the bush, she invested a lot of years chasing her dreams—she enjoyed a career as a commissioned in the Royal Australian Navy, and counts white-water rafting the Zambezi River, travelling by safari truck through Africa, and back-packing through Eastern Europe with her young family as just a few of her many adventures.

But amongst the adventure, the urge to write intensified as story lines and dialogue continued to materialise from the recesses of her mind. She finally accepted that the voices in her head were really characters enmeshed in the tumultuous Georgian and Regency periods, vying for life on paper.

After a nomadic lifestyle, Elizabeth has now settled into her own home and loves nothing better than bringing her passionate heroines and daring rakes to life. She lives with her own hero and one true love, two beautiful daughters and two delinquent miniature long-haired dachshunds. Closer to Sin is Elizabeth’s debut novel.

Book Review A Chronicle of Chaos

a-chronicle-of-chaos-by-d-m-cainTitle: A Chronicle of Chaos

Author: D.M. Cain

Genre: Fantasy

“The new book in DM Cain’s epic Light and Shadow fantasy series certainly plunges us in at the deep end. The heart of this book—its true essence—is prejudice and love, persistence, and stubbornness.” Stewart Bint, author of In Shadows Waiting and Timeshaft. A brutal war has raged for centuries. The Brotherhood of Shadow and The Children of Light each yearn to rule the planet and will stop at nothing to defeat the other. Now, from the deepest bowels of Hell, the Brotherhood has summoned demons to fight for them. The demons could end the war once and for all, if only the Brotherhood can keep them under control. Prophecy, destiny, honour, and glory: Chaos, a soldier in The Children of Light, fights in the name of all these things and could achieve them if he wasn’t so arrogant. He believes he is the best warrior in the land, until a fateful coincidence puts him at the mercy of the demon, Anathema. The two warriors, demon and human, strike up an intense rivalry, but their obsession to destroy one another only leads them closer together. When the forces of Heaven and Hell collide, where will their loyalties lie?

In A Chronicle of Chaos, The Brotherhood of Shadow fights against The Children of Light – each eager to rule the planet. The Brotherhood has summoned demons to help them, but struggles to keep them under control. Chaos is a soldier for the Children of Light. He’s arrogant, and that arrogance might destroy him, especially when coincidence puts him at the mercy of Anathema, a demon. Both of them are eager to destroy one another, but this only brings them closer together…

I had no idea I would enjoy this book so much, but I did. I loved Chaos, even if he was so stubbornly arrogant! The world building was excellent too, and the writing flowed really well. Loved it!

Jason stared into the distance.

I eased my face into a smile. “I can help. It’s not easy to deal with the undead.”

He licked his lips and lowered his face so his hot breath brushed across my forehead. “Leave, or I’ll kick you and your friend up the road.”

I held my ground but raised my hands in mock surrender. He licked his lips again. He had to be lying. If a zombie undead had attacked someone last night, they would already have turned. He hadn’t seen Carrie at all, let alone an undead Carrie. The kids wouldn’t survive two days without food. They were either already contaminated, in which case time made no difference, or they had to be freed and fed.

We needed a good diversion to distract these guards from their purpose.

Who is this? a disembodied voice sounded in my head. Shorn hair and dressed like a boy, but not what he seems. Meagan. The voice deepened. What a charming name.

A prickle spread up my neck and across my scalp. The dead didn’t know everything. They couldn’t know my name unless I told them, or they already knew me. I gripped the Athame hanging from my belt.

“Not now.” I muttered the words under my breath. Whoever it was, they had to wait.

It is Meagan, isn’t it? The voice rang out as distinct as if the speaker stood before me. It was nothing like the whispering and murmuring I normally heard from the dead.

The words formed in my head as if I had thought them. But I hadn’t. Something uninvited danced in my brain.

I built your home. You may call me grandfather.

I swallowed back a hard lump in my throat. There was no mist, no gossamer light, nothing to suggest a spirit had raised by itself like my father’s had. “Quintus Mundy? Where are you?”

In your head. Let me help you.

I turned away from the guard so he wouldn’t hear my muttering. “Not now. This is important. I—”

That’s why I’m here, my dear.

Hoof beats echoed from the road behind me. A cantering horse carried a lean man in a flapping leather jacket. He slowed and called greetings to the guards and the Westall workers.

Jason nodded to the rider. He stared down at me. “Are you stupid?” He pushed my shoulder. “I told you to piss off.”

I stumbled backward. Frustration swirled around inside me and coalesced into sharpness. My body was a bow, ready to launch black arrows of raw emotion.

Raw power I could do. Not long ago, I’d hurtled a zombie and a grown man off their feet. That had been in anger, anger and fear. Something subtler was needed here. A sharp pain in his leg or in his gut might be enough to distract him or convince him to leave his post to find a replacement. Damn it, I needed to understand my own power better, needed to understand how to use it.

Subtle is for cowards. Hurt him. You know you can.

A sharp groan burst from my mouth. Quintus was in my head, sensing my fears.

Jason raised his eyebrows at my sound. He strode to me, nostrils quivering, hands curled into fists. I stepped backward too late. The force of his fist connecting with my shoulder sent me tripping back toward the people circling the fire.

I had to get inside the cottage somehow.

Her world unravels as secrets from her heritage are exposed. On her sixteenth birthday, visions and dreams haunt her, and threaten the lives of everyone around her. The book is really well written, and I adored Kat! She was such a fun character. The addition of Greek mythology works great!
