1.) How long have you been writing?
I have been writing since 2010. That is when I began dabbling with it and started my very first book. I was inspired after reading the Twilight Series and also hadn’t been able to stop thinking that one day I wanted to write a book after reading “The Notebook” years before.
2.) What was the most challenging part of writing Diverted Heart?
I’d have to say the most difficult part of writing Diverted Heart was time. Working in a full-time career, married and with a busy family, time is precious. I’d often commit my evenings to writing starting at 9 pm when the house was quiet until I couldn’t keep my eyes open anymore. But ask anyone that knows me well and they will tell you I will meet any challenge head-on. I began outlining this book in August of 2014 and had it completed by December 2014. I LOVED writing this story and felt like I was opening to another world the late hours spent creating this book.
3.) What is your favorite part of being an author?
My favorite part of being an author is sharing something special, almost sacred, with others. Meaning your creating people, places and stories that really do effect others/readers. Someone is going to pick-up your hard work and take time to read it. It may sound simple and silly but when someone reads and enjoys your creative en-devour, it makes being an Author totally worth it.
4.) Is this book part of a series? If so, will there be more books in the series?
I’m gearing up for a sequel, though not a series, I feel that the story started in Diverted Heart still has a great reading life to give and I’d like to round out some things for the readers. And to be honest, I loved writing these characters.
I’m curious, for those who have read it or after you do read it, I’d love to hear your feedback at my Facebook Page http://www.facebook.com/bastifflemire with your thoughts on a sequel. Or let me know if you get a chance to review the book on Amazon, Goodreads etc..
5.) Do you have any works in progress you’re working on?
Absolutely, As noted above, I am dabbling with the sequel to Diverted Heart.
I’m also outlining a WWII/Present Day Romance that embarks on twists, turns, hidden secrets, present/past love stories/triangles and more. Its a story that I talk to my husband about and though not a Romance reader by any stretch of the imagination tells me, “you’ve got to write that book.”
Finally, I am also partaking in something totally different from my normal ebb/flow writing and beginning a children’s series, out Fall 2016, “The Spectacular World of Waldorf”. With small children myself, the project felt right and I have been very fortunate to partner with Barbara Terry on the project and publish it with Waldorf Publishing.
With a baby due in mere weeks, I’m hoping to get back into the writing saddle in early 2016 on the sequel to Diverted Heart and new Present/Past Romance mentioned.
About the Book
Title: Diverted Heart
Author: Beth Ann Stifflemire
Genre: New Adult Romance
Texas summers are no doubt some of the hottest you’ll find. The heat encountered during this summer is not at all what Taylor bargained for. She’s at a crossroads between childhood and womanhood, rummaging through the emotions of first love versus passion. Two young men tangle a web of needs and desires in her heart. The summer before college begins, Taylor is thrust from her childhood home in Houston to an inherited family farm on the outskirts of Schulenburg, Texas. Eric, her first love, has gone states away to play college football. Low-spirited and merely trying to get through an expectantly boring summer, she is nearly run off the road by her new country neighbor, Maxwell. Ruggedly handsome, devilishly charming and everything Taylor seeks to avoid, Maxwell does something to her emotions she’s struggling desperately to interpret, as they spend the summer filled with each other. Boundaries are tested and the scales of lust tip despite hesitations. A final decision must be made. Did she ever truly love Eric? Is Maxwell simply a lustful thought, or is there more to uncover beneath the surface? One thing is for certain, this summer will change Taylor in every possible way: mind, body and soul.
Beth Ann is a wife, mother, blogger and book lover from Texas. Her passion is writing stories that draw a reader into a world where they can become the characters and experience a gamut of emotions. When she’s not writing, she loves to be home with my family and two yellow labs. In addition she’s a sucker for super sappy romance movies, loves trying out Texas wines, is an avid hot tea drinker and enjoys checking items off of her ever-growing bucket list.
