….though I would dearly love to play court to you, I would hurt you more than any other.”

It is 1752. The year that will change the life of heiress Melissa De Vire. As she makes her first steps into society, she meets Justin Lestrade and his world tears her perceptions apart. Drawn irresistibly to him, she finds herself sinking into a realm of feuds, magic and old curses.

Melissa De Vire is an heiress and debutante, and although stubborn and fiesty, she’s also a little naieve in the world she steps into. Justin Lestrade is used to a life of vices, debauchery, and doing whatever he wants. He’s irresistible for Melissa, and the two of them are drawn to each other. The historical part of the book has a lot of details, and the setting works well. While reading, I almost felt like I was thrown back into the 18th century. The paranormal aspect of the book was intriguing too. The book is an interesting start to a new series, and I look forward to reading more.
