I love cozy mystery, and I expected I’d enjoy this book, and I did. It’s a mix of cozy mystery and chick lit. Presley, our main character, buys a failing retail boutique named Silk. On the first day of business ownership, the store manager, Roxanne, is arrested for murdering her boyfriend. Roxanne insist she’s innocent, and ask Presley’s help. Presley doesn’t mind helping out, but with having to run a boutique, someone stealing from the shop, and life in general, she barely has time to solve a murder on top of all that.
The characters and plot are quirky, typical for what you’d expect in a cozy mystery. Presley is an easy heroine to relate to, and the other characters form an interesting cast. There were a few grammar errors throughout the book though, but it wasn’t too bad, and didn’t take away from the reading experience.
